Purpose. The demonstration model is intended for studying the appearance and design of the automatic coupler of a SA-3 type car in specialized courses at specialized educational institutions.
Description. The demonstration model should represent two automatic couplers of the SA-3 type, located opposite each other, and fully reproduce the operation of the automatic coupler, including: coupling, disengaging, setting the safety lock and releasing the automatic coupler. The draft gear must be shown on one of the automatic couplers, and one side of this automatic coupler must be made transparent in order to clearly demonstrate the operation of the automatic coupler. The main elements of automatic couplers should be made of materials of contrasting colors to make the layout clearer and make it easier to understand the principle of operation of the automatic coupler. Coupling must be done manually, uncoupling must be done using a release lever. The base design must allow the automatic couplers to move to demonstrate engagement and disengagement. One automatic coupler must tip over to allow its design to be studied. The scale of the demonstration layout is one to two.
The demonstration model must be installed on a specialized base, which is a floor frame structure made of rolled steel and coated with protective powder enamel; the frame supports must be adjustable in height for a more stable placement of the model on the floor. A tabletop made of laminated chipboard must be mounted on the frame, on which the demonstration model of the automatic coupler must be directly attached.
