Description

Designed to study methods for detecting leaks in high-pressure gas systems. Air is used as the working medium for the stand.
It is a table stand (supplied without a table).
The base of the stand is made in the form of a frame structure made of a metal profile with a polymer coating, covered with a metal sheet and framed with an aluminum profile with a polymer coating.
On the tabletop there is a vertical frame on which is fixed
a pipeline system with ball valves, including the following elements and types of connections:
– detachable connections with union nuts and elastic seals, serviceable and defective;
– threaded with union nuts with connections along the outer cone with flared pipeline with the presence of defects on the flared surface;
– quick-release connections for plastic hoses.
To create pressure in the pipeline system, a compressor with a maximum pressure of at least 5 bar is used, installed under the table; receiver, pressure reducing valve for regulating pressure in the piping system, pressure gauge and pressure sensor for monitoring pressure.
Leak locations are determined in two ways:
– small-sized acoustic leak detector;
– by washing.
The air is pumped by the compressor into the receiver, from which it enters the piping system into the common manifold through a pressure reducing valve. The sections of the pipelines under study are connected through ball valves to the manifold. The student’s task is to find the location of the leak.
Dimensions of the stand without compressor, no more than 800x600x800 mm, electrical power consumption no more than 1.5 kW (without compressor and vacuum cleaner).
Stand weight, no more than 70 kg.
List of laboratory works:
1. Determination of the leakage flow rate by the pressure drop in the receiver
2. Finding leaks with an ultrasonic leak detector
3. Finding leaks using the soaping method
